This case study explores the transformation Toul Beng Primary School in Kampong Cham Province, Cambodia, has experienced throughout the timeline of the I’m Learning Pilot Project. I’m Learning is a Save the Children Norway-led pilot project that has been implemented in three countries between 2014 and 2017, to develop and test effective programming methods for improving the quality of learning environments, and to strengthen enabling factors for children’s learning and well-being in school.

The I’m Learning project aims to improve the quality of the learning environment from a holistic perspective, to improve children’s learning and development in school through four guiding principles that Save the Children believes should be present in a school or learning environment to support children’s learning and wellbeing. The four guiding principles articulate that learning environments must: ensure psycho-social protection; physical safety; be active and child-centred; and be actively supported by parents and communities.
