“They Treated Us in Monstrous Ways”: Sexual violence against men, boys, and transgender women in the Syrian conflict
Since the onset of the Syrian conflict, men, boys, and transgender women have been subjected to rape and other forms of sexual violence by the Syrian Government and armed non-state actors. Men who are perceived as gay or bisexual and trans women have been particularly at risk.
Limited data and reporting on sexual violence against boys, men, and trans persons--partially due to the stigma surrounding male vulnerability and reluctance to seeking help--have resulted in male and transgender survivors not receiving adequate help,
With this report, Human Rights Watch urges international donors and humanitarians to provide resources for tailored health services and social programs for men, boys, transgender, and non-binary survivors of sexual violence in Lebanon in accordance with UN Security Council resolution 2467.
