The Spider Tool was created by Clare Feinstein and Claire O’Kane. It has been adapted and developed by Save the Children since late 2003 through collaborative work with child-led organisations and local NGO partners. This version of the Spider Tool helps children, young people (and adults) to assess children’s initiatives and organisations according to a number of core dimensions, to assess what they are trying to achieve, what they feel they are good at and areas they feel should be improved, to reflect upon the learning process that children, young people and adults go through as they work together on collective initiatives, and to use their assessments to plan changes and action to improve their organisation and their collective efforts.
