Led by a research team from Thammasat University, this report sets out to review the situation of young key affected populations’ HIV risk behaviours in Thailand, to review the present policy and programmatic response for those populations, identify gaps and promised practices for those populations, and to determine strategic future policy and programming interventions.

This analysis of young people at higher risk of HIV exposure aims to strengthen national capacities for decision-making on issues of equity, social inclusion, and the protection of youth at higher risk of HIV exposure. The findings from this report uncover a number of trends amongst young people at higher risk of HIV exposure. One major trend proved to be a reliance of youth on close relationships – family and friends – on social support and health information. Reports of a lack of confidentiality in public hospitals dissuaded many from seeking healthcare. These findings show, according to the researchers, a potential for development of programmes that involve building social support networks.
