Commissioned by UNICEF, this report examines the situation of children living in poverty in Uganda and what the children had to say about their lives in general and their specific experiences of poverty. The report strives to identify the vulnerabilities and risks facing children and what resources children can access in order to improve their situation.

Built on qualitative and participatory research techniques, the report focuses on the child’s perspective in identifying whether or not the seven dimensions of basic children’s needs, the Bristol Indicators, are being achieved. The seven dimensions are education, health, food, water, sanitation, shelter, and information.

The outcome of the study is designed to inform better policy, programme design, and community issues that can address the concerns of children in Uganda.
