Services de Santé à Grand Impact (SSGI) Technical Brief

In Mali, maternal and infant mortality rates remain high, at 587 deaths/100,000 live births and 108 per 1,000 live births, respectively; and 80% of these deaths occur in the community. More than 42% of the population lives more than five km away from a health facility, which makes access to quality health services extremely difficult. The USAID-funded Services de Santé à Grand Impact (SSGI) project implements a Community Action Cycle (CAC) approach with the objective of mobilizing the community for collective action to boost the demand for, and use of, health services and to promote the adoption of healthy behaviors in target communities in Mali.
