The October issue of Save the Children’s CPI Newsletter includes highlights from the 2012 Day of General Discussion (DGD) on the theme of “The Rights of All Children in the Context of International Migration”. The Newsletter includes: An introductory message from the Director of Save the Children’s Child Protection Initiative that contains information on the DGD; Global statistics on child and adolescent international migrants; An interview with Mr. François Crépeau, UN Special Rapporteur on the Human Rights of Migrants, with focus on migrant children’s rights; Save the Children’s DGD Recommendations; Case studies from Italy and Egypt sharing practical information between actors in areas of origin and destination, important to reduce the potential risks of migration for young people. The Newsletter concludes with an interview with16-year old Sasima Srikhwang, a youth leader who represents the Betty Group working against human trafficking in Chongmek, Ubon Ratchatani, Thailand, and is actively engaged in fighting human trafficking. Sasima, who was selected by the Forum on Child Migration of Thailand to participate in the Day of General Discussion speaks on the challenges faced by children in international migration situations. This issue also gives you access to a range of DGD-related documents and useful CPI resources available for download.
