Report on the Child Rights Governance Europe Consultation held 4—5 May 2011 in Brussels, organized by Save the Children Sweden Regional Office & Europe Group. The Child Rights Governance Initiative (CRGI) is one of six thematic priority areas of the Save the Children strategy 2010-2015, and although a new thematic area, it builds on Save the Children’s ongoing work and long-standing experience in areas relevant to child rights, law reform, and civil society building. The CRGI is aimed at supporting states to move forward in fulfilling children’s rights, holding states accountable for what they have or have not done, mobilising civil society to promote and defend children’s rights, and engaging with other actors to achieve the realisation of child rights. The key objectives of the Europe Consultation were to: introduce the CRGI; share experiences on CRG achievements and current work in the region; discuss and plan how Save the Children can strengthen CRG in the region; discuss Save the Children’s capacity and resources and identify needs for guidance and support; discuss and plan for future SC co-operation on CRG.
