Remarks by OMCT/SOS-Torture in response to the Report of the Government of Pakistan

This Alternative Report was submitted to the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child by the Organisation Mondiale Contre la Torture (OMCT) in response to the Report of the Government of Pakistan. Pakistan ratified the Convention on the Rights of the Child on 12 November 1990, all the while maintaining a reservation whereby the provisions of the Convention were to be interpreted in the light of Islamic laws and values. This Alternative Report highlights some of the contradictions in the report of the government and briefly touches some of the main challenges facing the Government of Pakistan with respect to violations of child rights.
