Reports show that persons with disabilities in Somalia struggle to be recognized, gain access to resources, and feel valued in their community. Through the lack of explicit inclusion, they are often denied access to water, food, sanitation and accommodation, which ultimately denies them their economic, social and cultural rights. Despite this, children and adults with disabilities are often sidelined in humanitarian responses in the country.

Seeking to understand the key barriers to the participation of children with disabilities in society, this assessment reviews the current situation of children with disabilities in four cities in Somalia. It also includes recommendations on how to improve the situation for children with disabilities in the country.
