Provincial reconstruction teams and humanitarian-military relations in Afghanistan

This paper presents the results of research conducted by Save the Children UK on the Provincial Reconstruction Teams in Afghanistan. It seeks to analyse more fully the implications of the PRTs on humanitarian agencies and humanitarian assistance in the country. The research was motivated by Save the Children UK’s concerns that PRT:s represent a second-best option for enhancing security and blur the distinction between humanitarian and military actors.
