An overview of the Nepal MALA project, which promotes a protective environment for children to ensure that they are not removed unnecessarily from their homes and families. The project intends to minimize risks and allows children deprived of parental care to find family based alternative care in Jumla, Humla, Rolpa and Salyan districts in the mid-western region of Nepal. Activities are implemented through district based NGOs partners. The Centre for Mental Health and Counselling (CMC) Nepal, provides its partners with technical skills in psychosocial support through the training and supervision of social workers. The project is financially supported by the Swiss Foundation of Terre des hommes located in Lausanne.
