A report prepared by PICUM, which highlights the presentations and discourse which took place during the public hearing on 8 December 2010, in the European Parliament on “Preventing Undocumented Pregnant Women and Children from Accessing Health Care: Fostering Health Inequalities in Europe”. The event was coordinated by the European Anti-Poverty Network (EAPN), European Women’s Lobby (EWL), Médecins du Monde (MdM), and the Platform for International Cooperation on Undocumented Migrants (PI CUM). The timing of the hearing coincided with the closing of the 2010 European Year for Combating Poverty and Social Exclusion and the European Parliamentary Committee Environment, Public Health and Food Safety’s (ENVI) drafting of its report on the “Reduction of Health Inequalities in the EU”. This report concludes with policy recommendations for the European Commission, Parliament and Member States.
