Peace, Love, Tolerance: Key messages from Islam and Christianity on protecting children from violence and harmful practices

Islam and Christianity equally stress the importance of protecting children from all forms of violence. Realizing the significance of this message, Al-Azhar University and the Coptic Church of Egypt joined together with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) to compile this guide on child protection. Using religious texts and faith-based methods, the guide was developed to be used to prevent violence in the three most important environments of a child’s development: the family, school, and social circles. The guide covers various forms of violence, including child labour, sexual abuse, child homelessness, domestic and school violence, armed conflicts, child trafficking and online violence.
