Optional Protocol to the Convention on the Rights of the Child on the Involvement of Children in Armed Conflicts

This Optional Protocol was adopted and opened for signature, ratification and accession by United Nations General Assembly resolution A/RES/54/263 of 25 May 2000 entered into force on 12 February 2002. It includes recommended minimum ages (18 years) for combatants as well as recommendations about compulsory recruitment, and informed consent of recruits and parents.
