Rwanda is the first country in Africa to attempt a nationwide expansion of its point-of-use fortification programme, which provides micronutrient powders (MNPs) to enrich children’s foods with essential nutrients. The programme is available across all 30 districts in the country and reached about 80 percent of the target population (children aged 6-26 months) in 2017.
This field report explores some of the challenges and critical factors that accelerated scale-up and shares key lessons learned from the experience.
