The Kyoto Declaration was an important outcome of a consultation between Religions for Peace, UNICEF, and religious leaders and experts on the religious perspective on the UN Secretary General’s Study on Violence Against Children and to brainstorm ways of supporting the report’s recommendations.

The Kyoto Declaration has been an important resource for those working with multi-religious cooperation and advocacy for children. This publication provides reflections and discussion points as a guide for those working towards the prohibition of corporal punishment of children. They can be used when working with religious communities, particularly during the process of multi-religious cooperation, to encourage religious communities to develop their work to actively advocate for children.
