Save the Children

In the Philippines, Save the Children, in cooperation with other international and domestic voluntary organisations, politicians and  policymakers, have pushed for the enactment of a law to promote positive discipline and ban all forms of corporal and humiliating or degrading punishment. The proposed legislation, among other things, seeks to encourage and support parents in effectively disciplining their children by teaching or training them to use positive and non-violent forms of discipline, rather than more traditional violent methods. Once enacted into law, the Philippines will be the first country in Asia to have a national law, joining other 34 countries worldwide in prohibiting corporal punishment in all settings.
