Implementation of the International Code of Marketing of Breast-milk Substitutes (BMS) and subsequent relevant World Health Assembly (WHA) resolutions through enforcement of national legal measures is essential to ensuring that parents and other caregivers receive the correct information. Implementation of the International Code also ensures that health workers and health facilities do not promote BMS or accept support from BMS manufacturers or distributors.
This status report provides updated information on the state of country implementation of the International Code on Marketing of BMS. It presents the legal status of the Code, including to what extent it has been incorporated with national legal measures.
