Lost Generation or Generation Now? Getting Syrian Refugees and Host-Community Adolescents Back on Track in the Kurdish Region of Iraq.

The conflict in Syria and the subsequent exodus of Syrians into neighboring countries is now in its fourth year as of 2014. Resulting from a call from UNICEF to the international and host communities to take action to avoid losing an entire generation of engaged, educated and productive Syrian refugee and host community children, Mercy Corp has undertaken this study of youth and adolescents in the Kurdish Region of Iraq (KRI).

Based on discussions with adolescents in KRI, this report details findings and presents recommendations that should guide investments in future-oriented strategies to facilitate and improve adolescent well-being and critical development skills for both Syrian refugee and Iraqi Kurdish adolescents who reside in host communities in the region.
