A decade into the Syria crisis, refugees remain in exile as their country continues to face a protracted conflict and a dire humanitarian crisis. Many Syrian refugees are located in Jordan, and it is estimated that about 50 percent are women and girls. Even though progress has been made for the situation of Syrian refugees in Jordan, these women and girls face many barriers preventing access to employment, education and essential services. This hampers the fulfillment of their rights, exacerbating vulnerability and contributing to heightened protection risks, including sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV).

This report provides information on incidents of SGBV reported by survivors in Jordan during 2019. It also presents recommendations for relevant stakeholders on how to work with SGBV in the Jordan context.
