An Insight into Child Labour among Iraqi Refugees in Lebanon

This study was conducted by the Caritas Lebanon Migrant Center (CLMC) on child labour among Iraqi refugees in Lebanon, after noticing a rising trend of school drop-outs and working children. This study sought to gain insights into the phenomenon of child labour among the refugees and compare the findings to child labour in other sub-populations in the country.

CLMC researchers concluded that Iraqi refugees are not culturally predisposed to child labour, but rather resort to it as a coping mechanism. In general, when compared to other sub-populations of refugees in Lebanon, Iraqi refugees tended to be older and better educated than other child laborers.
