This manual is the culmination of the joint efforts of the Khalil Sakakini Cultural Centre (devoted to the promotion of arts and culture in Palestine) and the Ministry of Education and Higher Education. The manual is a supporting resource to be used to refining capabilities and talents of teachers and students of art courses in schools, and all those who see in it a benefit leading to developing the arts and enhancing their role regardless of their field of work. The idea is to introduce an innovative child centered inclusive education approach through a wide range of art forms (child theatre, drama, visual arts and therapeutic art) as a practical and applied means of practicing children’s rights, behavior modification, and raising the motivation of both teacher and learner. By January 2009, this manual had been put in practice by 24 art teachers and supervisors in 4 districts (Qalqilia, Jericho, Hebron and the periphery of Jerusalem), and teachers have been trained on using the manual’s contents to facilitate workshops for 600 children.
