Fakta om kvinnlig könsstympning

This brochure constitutes an effort to disseminate knowledge about Female Genital Mutilation (FMG) (which remains legal in several countries, predominantly in Africa), and its socio-political effects. Save the Children advocates for the abandonment of the practice and, in this brochure, considers the harmful aspects of the tradition, its origins, number of victims, economic consequences and legal perspectives. Using a human rights approach, efforts should be focused on the prevention of female circumcision; treatment and rehabilitation of girls and women who have suffered the effects of FMG/Cutting; and competence building at all levels.
