Fact Sheet 1: The Universal Periodic Review. Information for NGOs

One of two fact sheets published by the NGO Group for the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC), aimed at assisting NGO’s in engaging with the Universal Periodic Review (UPR), which involves the review of the human rights practices of all States in the world once every four years. Factsheet 1 introduces NGOs to the UPR mechanism of the United Nations Human Rights Council. It offers a comparison between the aims and objectives of both the UPR and CRC Committee reporting strategies, to identify entry points for NGOs to raise child rights issues through each of these two international mechanisms. The NGO Group for the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) is a coalition of international non-governmental organisations, which work together to facilitate the implementation of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child.
