Child protection is a priority area for Plan International that focuses on community based child protection (local) mechanisms with the aim of creating protective networks and environments to

ensure protection of all children and to contribute towards strengthening national child protection systems. This qualitative survey was conducted to explore gender equality perspectives in Community Based Child Protection Mechanisms.

According to the findings of this study, gender disparity exists within CBCPMs. Men members are more dominating in governance and decision making. Mainly women members are only involved at household or school level issues and their participation is limited to the trainings provided to CBCPM members. Efforts are required to strengthen the role and active participation of women and girls in governance and decision making.
