Although the world has seen remarkable progress in the reduction of child deaths, each year an estimated 2.9 million newborns die during their first 28 days, often from preventable diseases and circumstances.

To address this issue, multiple stakeholders have worked together to propose the “Every Newborn Action Plan (ENAP)”, based on epidemiology, evidence and global and country learning.

The action plan sets out a vision of a world in which there are no preventable deaths of newborns or stillbirths, where every pregnancy is wanted, every birth celebrated, and women, babies and children survive, thrive and reach their full potential.
