The European Union and Child Participation
More than two decades after the adoption of the UN Convention on Rights of the Child (UNCRC) children’s right to participation, set out in various articles of the UNCRC, continues to challenge prevailing attitudes and practice. In this paper, Save the Children presents some thoughts around the EU’s role in relation to children’s participation, and introduces guiding principles and important considerations that need to be taken into account to ensure meaningful, safe and ethical child participation.
