According to the World Health Organization, an estimated 800 women and 7 000 newborns die every day from preventable causes related to pregnancy and delivery. Almost all of these maternal and neonatal deaths occur in countries and areas with limited resources. 

This guide is designed to help reduce maternal and neonatal deaths in challenging contexts. It is intended for midwives, doctors and qualified personnel who respond to obstetric emergencies. It can also be used as a training tool.
