Save the Children

On average, 37.5% of households in Myanmar live in poverty according to a 2010 World Health Organization study. Stunting prevalence in children under five is significantly higher in rural areas than urban areas, and the discrepancy is even more prevalent in a socio-economic comparison. Children in Rakhine State and Ayeyarwaddy Region are especially vulnerable.

Through the Every Last Child campaign, Save the Children has implemented a Maternal and Child Cash Transfer programme in three regions in Myanmar to prevent stunting in early childhood, they have also promoted good breastfeeding practices amongst mothers during the first 1000 days of infant’s lives.
