At the time of writing, the Rohingya refugee situation remains one of the most complex refugee crises in the world. Despite the fact that much research has been done on the crisis, there has been limited attention to Rohingya children’s access to education. Of the five countries that prohibit refugees from accessing public schooling, Malaysia hosts the second largest number of Rohingya refugees. All refugees in Malaysia are considered as illegal immigrants, making the educational situation dire for the estimated 60 000 refugee children located in the country.

Built on fieldwork and interviews, this report aims to get a better understanding of Rohingya children’s access to education in Malaysia.
