CRGI Update Newsletter, November 20, 2015

The Child Rights Governance Initiative (CRGI) has released this special edition of the CRGI Update in commemoration of the UNCRC anniversary.

In 2015, the CRGI team led advocacy work that aided in bringing about a first-ever UN discussion and resolution on investment in children. This resolution sets a rights-based approach to resource mobilization, budget allocation, and spending to realize children’s rights.

This newsletter also presents the rights issues facing LGBTI children and Save the Children’s role. The Save the Children project “Child Rights Governance to promote non-discrimination of LGBTI street children” in Vietnam is presented and further discussion is called for in how to best ensure that the rights of all children are respected.

In 2016, the Millennium Development Goals will be replaced by 17 Sustainable Development Goals. Read about Goal 16 to “promote peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development, provide access to justice for all and build effective, accountable, and inclusive institutions at all levels”, which can be used to advance Save the Children’s Child Rights Governance work.
