While current evidence shows that children are not particularly vulnerable to the coronavirus, previous experience from the Ebola outbreak suggests that children are more vulnerable to the secondary impacts of the outbreak. Such threats include food insecurity, increased risk of violence, neglect, and abuse, as well as the discontinuation of essential services such as education.
This document details the secondary threats to children’s well-being in the COVID-19 outbreak and outlines recommendations for mitigating such threats.
