The Civicus 2013 Enabling Environment Index

CIVICUS: World Alliance for Citizen Participation is an international alliance of civil society organisations and activists working to strengthen citizen action and civil society throughout the world, especially in areas where participatory democracy and citizens’ freedom of association are challenged.

The Enabling Environment Index (EEI) is a global composite index, which was developed using secondary data. It seeks to understand citizens’ drive or desire to participate in civil society. The index is comprised of 53 indicators.

The findings and results from the EEI are presented and discussed in this report.
