Children’s Memorandum on Children’s Participation in Peace Building - Sarajevo (2008)

Children’s Memorandum on Children’s Participation in Peace Building - Sarajevo (2008), resulting from a four-day workshop aimed at reflecting on the process and quality of a thematic evaluation held 15-18 January 2008 in Sarajevo, Bosnia-Herzegovina. Child representatives identified five key problems for which they need further support in order to improve child participation in peace building. These children and youth representatives were from four Bosnia-Herzegovina communities actively involved in research and evaluation undertaken as a part of Save the Children Norway’s Global Thematic Evaluation on Child Participation in war situations, post-conflict circumstances and peace building.

The five identified key problems :

1. Lack of knowledge about child rights

2. Child participation in curriculum

3. Peacebuilding

4. Promotion of child initiatives and skills

5. Peer violence
