IOM, International Organization for Migration,IOM's Global Migration Data Analysis Centre

The IOM  created the Global Migration Data Analysis Centre (GMDAC) in response to growing calls for better data on migration, and better use and presentation of migration data. The GMDAC regularly produces data briefings on its latest findings on global migration.

This briefing focuses on data on the rising number of migrant and refugee children arriving in Europe by sea. The findings include diverse and inconsistent methods of data collection, terminology, and governmental policies. An exploration is made of the different points in a child’s journey data collection is made, the type of data that is being collected, and an analysis of the subsequent gaps in knowledge created by these processes.
