This is Save the Children’s advocacy strategy for child protection for 2013-2015 based on the Global Child Protection Strategy 2013-2015 and the priority areas’ strategies. The strategy focuses on the policy components of the child protection breakthrough and the opportunity to promote child protection in the process of establishing the global agenda for post 2015.

The four main advocacy objectives to be achieved by 2015 are:

  1. Eight additional States ban physical and humiliating punishment against children in all settings.
  2. At least ten States adopt and implement laws and policies that promote family and community-based care in line with the international guidelines for the alternative care of children.
  3. In emergency situations States commit to provide coordinated assistance and support to unaccompanied and separated children, where relevant.
  4. The post-2015 framework integrates goals and targets that include an explicit focus on improved protection for children, ideally with a specific child protection goal.

This document addresses the what, who, and how of the new advocacy strategy and includes a chart of the 2015 objectives compared to indicators and baselines of respective, participant countries.
