Community leaders and Breaking the Silence (BTS) adult & adolescent group members came together on a child sexual abuse case that took place in a local religious school at the Shahin Star Kindergarten in Dhaka City. After raising their voices against the school and the teachers and report the incident to the kindergarten authorities, the religious school was immediately ordered to close and the teachers were driven out of the community. The BTS, which was founded to build the awareness of children on child sexual abuse – has been monitoring the recovery of the abused child, who is now attending mainstream school in a nearby community. The community has also taken the initiative to involve their children in group activities and increased child participation within the family and community, empowering children to protect themselves from being victims of child sexual abuse.
