Save the Children’s Education Program for Colombia is supporting the project called Democracy, Human Rights and Coexistence, implemented by local partner the Popular Training Institute, or IPC by its Spanish initials. The project aims to empower students to defend their own rights and respect the rights of others in ways that contrast sharply with the persecution, injustice and violence many of them have witnessed first hand in Colombia’s long running internal conflict. The project also works with teachers to create awareness around the special problems and needs of displaced children. Part of this training involves learning of pedagogic tools and innovations needed for dealing with the special needs of these children.
