In October 2020, China’s Minors Protection Law was revised and will take effect on June 1, 2021. The newly revised law has significantly increased the number of articles from 72 to 132 and includes general provisions and protections for the areas of family, school, society, Internet, government, judiciary as well as legal responsibility and supplementary provisions.

Since 2002, Save the Children in China has been dedicated to establishing a child-friendly and child-sensitive justice system in China. It started from localizing overseers experience to developing innovative pilot minor justice projects to solve the problem in one place, to scale-upping pilots into multiple provinces in China. After two decades of efforts, from the law-making and policy-making level, SC China sees legislative changes that can better protect and fulfill minors’ rights.
