Report of the ‘A Better Way to Protect ALL Children: The theory and practice of child protection systems’ conference held in New Delhi in November 2012, prepared to facilitate the exchange of knowledge and to stimulate discussion about child protection (CP) systems. The conference brought together more than 130 policymakers, academics, practitioners and other experts committed to child protection systems from across the globe, who offered critical perspectives and concrete results through applying a “systems approach” in the establishment or strengthening of CP systems. The goal of the conference was to review and consolidate what has been learned so far about the development and reform of CP systems; identify progress, and define an agenda on outstanding issues and the way forward. It explores the scope of child protection systems, strategies for systems strengthening in different contexts, and issues and target groups within a systems framework.
This Conference Report is co-published by the United Nations Children’s Fund, United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, Save the Children and World Vision.
