Save the Children Sweden

Save the Children Sweden releases its thirteenth annual report on child poverty in Sweden. This report, based on data from 2013, shows that child poverty in Sweden is unchanged at 12%, compared with 2012.

Children from single parent households and children of foreign-born parents are found to run a substantially higher risk of living in poverty. Nearly one in three children with a foreign background live in economic insecurity. Child poverty is also found to vary greatly between the different Swedish municipalities and even within different urban areas.

The report closely examines the different socioeconomic conditions for child poverty in Sweden and compares these statistics to the European Union poverty measurements.
