This study begins by aggregating past research on alcohol and substance abuse in the Solomon Islands. It then delves deeper into gender-based violence, highlighting research that shows a strong association between alcohol use and intimate partner/gender-based violence.
The study itself attempts to address the following questions a range of questions related to substance abuse, programmes to combat it, and gender-based violence. The overall objective of the research was to collect data to inform the development of a programme to address the problematic issue of substance use and the related personal and interpersonal consequences in the Solomon Islands, with particular focus on gender-based violence.
