Accelerated learning programmes in conflict-affected fragile states

38 million children of primary school age are out of school in conflict-affected fragile states (CAFS).
In addition, millions of older children in CAFS have missed out on education because their experience of conflict has made it difficult for them to cope with formal school. Accelerated Learning Programmes (ALPs) are flexible, age-appropriate courses that help out-of-school children aged 10–18 catch up with their primary education and get back into mainstream or alternative modes of learning. But, for a number of reasons, ALPs are still not recognised, resourced or rolled out on a large scale by governments in CAFS.
