During the 33rd Regular Session of the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC), a side event was held to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of the World Report on Violence Against Children (2006), organized by the Working Group on Children and Violence of Child Rights Connect; the Global Partnership to End Violence Against Children; the Office of the Special Representative to the Secretary General on Violence against Children; and the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights. Key panel speakers participated in the event, including: Ms. Marta Santos Pais, Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General on Violence against Children; Dr. Krug, Director of Management of Noncommunicable Diseases, Disability, Violence and Injury Prevention, WHO and Co-Chair of the Global Partnership to End Violence Against Children; and Professor Paulo Pinheiro, Independent Expert for the UN Study on Violence Against Children (2006).

The main objective of the event was to discuss the progress, including the successes and remaining challenges, of these last 10 years, since the adoption of the World Report on Violence Against Children.
