World Report on Child Labour 2015: Paving the way to decent work for young people

Publication year:

2015

Format:

pdf

Publisher:

ILO, International Labour Organization

Published by the International Labour Organization, this report looks at the twin challenges of child labour elimination and ensuring decent work for youth. This issue is currently given heightened interest due to the likely Sustainable Development Goal of ‘decent work for all’ for the post-2015 context.

The report argues that it will not be possible to achieve decent work for all without eliminating child labour and thus erasing the ‘decent work deficit’ faced by youth. Evidence is given that shows how children who leave school to work are faced with further challenges when seeking decent work as youth and adults. Conclusions are made in the form of recommendations for improving the coherence of policies and programmes that address child labour and the youth decent work deficit.
