Save the Children Tanzania partnered with Women in Law and Development in Africa (WiLDAF) to implement Sida Civil Society Organization Strengthening Program (2022–2024), the project aimed to enhance the capacity and effectiveness of Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) in advocating for child rights in Tanzania. The program focused on four key areas: organizational capacity building, child agency, child rights and civic space.
Under organizational capacity building, WiLDAF has improved governance by revising key policies, streamlining operations, and implementing digital transformation to enhance efficiency and accountability. The children’s agency component has empowered thousands of girls and boys through Shule Salama Clubs, equipping them with knowledge of their rights, fostering self-advocacy, and creating safer school environments.
The child rights advocacy efforts have led to significant legal and policy advancements, including strengthening gender-based violence (GBV) protection laws and increasing access to justice for survivors. The project has also mobilized communities to challenge gender norms through initiatives such as sports-driven gender equality campaigns and grassroots activism during the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence. WiLDAF strengthen the capacity 6 CSOs partners to integrate gender perspective in their programming.
By addressing systemic challenges, engaging communities, and advocating for policy reforms, the Sida CSOs Program (2022–2024) driven sustainable change in promoting child rights, gender equality, and justice for vulnerable groups in Tanzania.
