Sudan is facing a severe education crisis due to ongoing conflict, with nearly all school-aged children unable to access quality learning. The conflict has led to the closure of 10,400 schools and displaced millions of children. Many schools are being used as emergency shelters, and teachers have not been paid for months. The crisis has exacerbated existing issues in the education system, including underinvestment and instability. UNICEF and partners are working to provide education and protection services to affected children, but funding remains critically low, with significant gaps in the humanitarian response plan. The situation is dire, and urgent action is needed to ensure children can continue their education and secure their future.
