The assessment has mainly focused on qualitative data collection procedure that include focus group discussions with care givers/parents, children and facilitators as well as key informant interview with SC project staffs. To this effect, the team has conducted data on the progresses, achievements and challenges of PwV program in Melkadida and Halewoyn refugee camps, Somali region, Ethiopia.
The assessment findings have revealed that the PwV program has assisted the community to develop positive social norms on parenting skills, practicing non-discriminatory parenting practices and enhanced the child-parent relationship at home. The self-confidence of caregivers/ parents and children have shown increment, as the PwV sessions worked with children, fathers, mothers, caregivers and communities to transform gender norms, power dynamics and culturally accepted practices that drive violence in the home.
