West Africa Program Profile

This publication presents the programme profile of Save the Children Sweden’s (SCS) work in the West African region. Information is shared on SCS’s vision, the West African context and the meaning of applying a child rights based approach. The importance of promoting children’s participation rights, of listening to children, and of supporting the development and strengthening of child-led organisations is emphasised in the description of each area of programme work undertaken by SCS in the region. The report includes sections on cutting- edge issues facing children in the region, such as working children, street children, children who are vulnerable to trafficking, children associated with armed forces, and children living in communities affected by HIV/AIDs.
